About Fran Grant and Bossing It!

aboutFG

Hello, I’m Fran. 38 years old. Wife. Mum to 3 gorgeous boys. Previous career woman slash business owner. Gym addict. Healthy Living advocate. Vegetarian. Bookworm. Living in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK.

Background

I graduated with a (BSc.) Business Degree from the University of Hull in 2003, before embarking on a Graduate Scheme with a large corporate IT Recruitment agency in Leeds. Sheer doggedness and determination paid off as I worked my way up from a Trainee to a Principal Consultant, where I then led a thriving team of Consultants.

In 2008 I branched out and set up my first recruitment business which took off immediately, and I sold up two years later when I started a family.

Through the sale of my business I was fortunate enough to be able to take some time out to raise my first two boys (James 7 and William 6), before setting up on my own again in 2012, this time working from home.

I took a break again a couple of years later to have my third boy (Edward 3) before returning to my business once again. I've been juggling working for myself and parenting since!

I’m proud that I’m a mum to 3 beautiful boys, as well as a strong, independent career woman who calls the shots in terms of my working schedule. I’m there for every school pick up and drop off, every school play, every party, every sick day, every hospital appointment and all of the school holidays.

People often ask “Can women have it all? Can you run a business and family successfully?” My answer is Hell to the Yes! You CAN be a mum and a career woman. I’m living proof!

Turning point

Early 2018 was a turning point for me, however. I separated temporarily from my husband which made me question my whole life and everything I'd come to know, even the future I thought I had planned out.

I literally started again from the ground upwards, emerging a new person. I'm putting my marriage back together piece by piece, and I'm carving out a life I wholeheartedly want to live, the life my soul has been longing for! And that, unsurprisingly has involved a whole change of career too...

Launch of the blog!

After years of running a recruitment business, I decided enough was enough. Since the age of 6, my dream has been to write, but I always thought it was a chance long lost, and that I'd chosen my career and therefore had to stick to it - after all I had kids, a mortgage, responsibilities... right?

But I took a leap of faith and here I am now, writing my blog! And this is just the start. And if it all goes Pete Tong I'll have to get back to my 'proper' job sharpish (I do not intend for that to happen).

The aim of Bossing It! is to empower and inspire women to be strong and independent, and to demonstrate first hand that life is there for the taking and that YOU are in control of it.

I want to encourage women to realise their potential, so they can grab life by the balls and create the life they truly want, so they can feel joy and gratitude each and every day, and ultimately be the very best version of themselves.

I want to share the belief that if someone is not 100% happy with any aspect of their life, be it work, relationships, parenting, health & fitness, or life in general, it’s never too late to change things or even start anew completely.

My motto

Every day is a new opportunity to start over, to be who you want to be, and YOU get to write and rewrite your story! You CAN create the life you truly want and truly deserve.

I really hope you enjoy the blog.

Much love, Fran xxx
